The book addresses issues concerning the character of current cultural economics. It focuses on a variety of impacts of the European context upon ongoing changes in Czech cultural sector. This focus is important part of the research project titled "Effective Methods of Support for Small and Middle-Sized Subjects of Cultural Sector in Environment of National and European Economy" which is financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
The broader objective of the project includes specific objective to analyze information on economic and legal environment for the functioning of economic subjects in the cultural sector and to confront the conditions in the Czech Republic with those in European countries. This book is primarily concerned with questions of fundamental research. The research concern of the book is divided into two parts. The first part provides statistical analyses of the European cultural context. It explores cross-national variations in articulations of cultural values, cultural participation and consumption and also in cultural employment sectors of twenty-seven member states of the EU. Chapters in the second part of the book are considering a wide scope of changes in the Czech cultural sector and are also referring to various relevant features of the current context of European cultural sector. All chapters of this book indicate that specific analyses of changing cultural subjects and also cultural policies considered in the context of European countries, generate indispensable insights which can be used in assessments of ongoing changes in the Czech cultural sector.
